Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Each year Papa and YiaYia go to Hilton Head Island with Kris, Meghan and the girls.  This time they invited us to join them, so we decided to check it out.  Our girls love the beach, so we figured we couldn't go wrong because there's several pools too.  The plan was to also go to Kris and Meghan's house for a couple of days after.
We arrived a couple days before Kris and Meghan, so we had a little time to check things out a little.  Each day we would touch base with Kris and he would give us more tips about navigating around with the girls.  The second day there we rented bikes and rode around close to the hotel.  Then we decided to venture out...we ended up so far out and a bit lost that we rode for almost 10 miles straight.  I was tired and Zoe was too!  Zoe was such a trooper though.  While on that ride, we saw an alligator.  That was pretty cool because we don't see alligators around home.
We spent time at the beach, in the pool and bike riding.  It was a fun time!  And we survived the humidity.  When we hung out at the beach, it was nice and relaxing and the waves aren't very powerful, so the girls felt pretty safe.  We did learn that sharks are out there all the time, so going out too far isn't too smart.  Also, jelly fish are usually all around.  Luckily, we did not encounter any, EXCEPT one, but Kylee and I were just grazed by it, so the sting wasn't incredibly bad...just a bit of a skin irritation.
The hotel has some entertainment at the pools, so one afternoon, we actually caught one of the acts.  It was quite impressive and the girls got to be part of the show.
The girls also learned a bit about sea turtles and how they nest.  We tried to catch some hatching, but we couldn't stay out all night waiting.  One day, the girls actually got to see and touch a baby that hadn't made it out into the ocean.  The lifeguards try to support it and get it past the waves, but it wasn't strong enough to swim, so it would just wash up on shore.  The girls were so intrigued.
Pool and beach, what more could you ask for?

They never skip a beat...it didn't take them long to pick up where they left off.

Took a quick break from the beach to paint starfish...

Riding on the beach turned out to be a blast!
