All Strings Concert

Zoe started to play the violin this year at school.  She is picking it up so fast!  Just like choir, they have a concert at our local performing arts venue.  She is in the back row, with a big white bow in her hair.

Avila Beach

Shaun had a tough transition back to the classroom this year, so we took a last minute short get away to Avila Beach/Pismo.  The girls were so excited to stay at the beach, but we were only able to squeeze in a couple of hours at the beach because the fog rolled in thick as can be and it got really chilly.  We visited their farmers' market and walked the shops, plus stopped at Avila Valley Barn.  It was a great quick trip.

Easter/Girls Birthday Celebration

The girls enjoyed another Easter with the family.  With all of the trips planned this year, I asked that they girls only have a family celebration because April was going to be a busy one and I was just not sure how I would fit it all in otherwise.  I made them bunny cakes and they played the saran wrap ball game.  It was a good time as always!

Softball x2

Both girls always look forward to softball season.  This year Shaun coached Kylee's team and was an assistant on Zoe's team.  Kylee loved playing pitcher this year and was such a little scrapper.  She scooped up most of the balls hit to her, even from some pretty good little batters.  Zoe was introduced to pitching this year, which came as a surprise to all of us.  She was too timid last year to learn and this year, so had no choice.  Her second pitcher broke her arm right before the season started and broke the other arm once she got the other cast off.  About mid-season, it was so tough to watch Zoe pitch, but she was loving it, so we decided to get her a pitching coach.  She works with her once a week.  After several weeks of lessons, we discovered that her coach played for my aunt at CSUN, on the team that made the Hall of Fame.

Daddy Turned 40!!!

I always envisioned throwing a big party for Shaun on his 40th, but frankly, we have been so busy with the girls' schedules and our outdoor areas need a facelift, so the solution was to have a birthday party at BJ's Brewhouse with family.  My parents, my brother's family, Shaun's dad and Haidee, his mom and his brother came.  It was a really nice time.

The morning of his birthday, the girls surprised him with a bunch of decorations.

On his actual birthday, my mom, the girls and I went with Shaun on the Dodger Stadium tour.  My mom got it for Shaun as his birthday present and he was so excited.  He was in heaven throughout the whole tour and said he wouldn't want to spend his 40th birthday any other way.  We went onto the field and saw a ton of the behind the scenes areas.  The girls even enjoyed it.
