Christmas Eve...we let the girls open presents from Papa and YiaYia

Christmas is always a busy time of year! This year we had to work up until the Friday before Christmas, so we definitely jumped right into the holiday. I was ready because of the 5 days cancelled do to the local fires. Our school district was in a zone where the anticipated air quality was supposed to be terrible, so school was cancelled. The hustle at school made for a busy couple of weeks at school leading up to the break.
All presents were wrapped for the most part and we were ready. We spent Saturday at my parents house with some family for a casual hangout and we also spent some time with Papa and YiaYia. Roe also came, so it was nice to catch up with her.
Christmas Eve we let the girls open a present from each other and Papa and YiaYia's presents. They played for a little bit in the morning, then it was off to Nana's house. We went out to lunch with her and Todd and returned to her house for some present opening. That night we always have dinner as a family at home and prepare for Santa's arrival.
Despite the excited, the girls were so good and went to bed almost on time! The girls didn't ask for too much this year, so the lists were manageable. Santa laid off a bunch of extra junk (thank you! ;)) and now we don't have toy overload in our house. The girls got a lot of the building, creative and some practical toys and we are trying to figure out a good system for them to store most of it in their rooms.
On Christmas day we split our time between my parents and my aunt's house. It was a busy day, but the kids always have the best time because they get to spend all day with their cousins. When we went to my aunt's, they also play with my cousins' kiddos. It is fun chaos! We played a Saran Wrap Ball game that was super fun and exciting. The kids loved it and they got goodies and little toys, some even money! I voted to keep that game around.
