Phrases from Zoe

I find the conversation with Zoe quite funny these days...she is still speaking Spanglish and sometimes is very clever.
#1 I will set the scene for you...we are driving in Wendy's car and Wendy stopped at a light, but proceeded to go. It was on a street that was not busy at all, but I said, "Oh, I think you are running a red light." Wendy said, "I thought it was just a three way stop." Well Zoe proceeded to say, "OOooooo, you didn't stop at the red light, the policeman is going to come for you." Holy cow! Where does she come up with this stuff?! Then she said, "You can only go on green, Wendy."
#2 Yesterday I had our first conversation about what she is going to be when she grows up. She said, "Mommy, when I grow up I am going to be a lion." I said, "Oh, really? Where are you going to live?" Very matter of factly, she said, "In a lion house." I asked where the house would be and she said, "It will have windows and a door to go through." Small misunderstanding, but I thought, "Wow, I can't believe my two year old is already making plans for the future." ;)
#3 Tonight at dinner, Jeff was over and Zoe said, "Don't bother me, I am eating." Boy, do we have our hands full! She told Jeff that if he wasn't being nice, that she would put him outside and strap him into the little swing...SERIOUSLY?!
Lately, she has been making plans for her little sister too. She says she is going to feed her and carry her around. She knows that she will have diapers, baby toys, and she won't eat food right away. There's a list of things she will share with Kylee and other things she says are hers. That is fine by me...I think she will have to adjust, as all little kids do, with a new family member, but I do think that she will be a great BIG sis! We are starting to get more and more excited for Kylee's arrival, but I still cannot believe how fast it has gone by! In less than 2 months, we will be blogging the arrival of our new little one!!! We still have to paint the nursery and decorate, plus get our house in order for a new baby again. Our 4-day weekend should give us a little time to take care of a lot. I love long weekends!!!

What are You Saying???

I haven't done an update in a while, but as I have been sitting here this morning with Zoe, I am realizing I have NO IDEA what she is saying! Yes, she speaks very clearly and enunciates very well. The problem is...I need to brush up on more Spanish!!! She is currently playing with her babies and trying to talk to me, ALL in SPANISH!!! She keeps asking me to listen, so that is exactly what I am doing. I cannot respond! This takes me back to the days when she tried to communicate without words and we just guessed at what she needed or wanted. I have wished this upon myself and will have to learn more, just to keep up with her already!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday Daddy! Zoe and I made Daddy a baseball cake for his birthday because that is what he said he would like. We enjoyed lunch out followed by ice cream...that was a treat for us all! Then we went to a one year old birthday party at the YMCA. That was a pretty fun deal! Zoe took a little bit to warm up, as usual, then she was totally gung ho. She loved the tumbling equipment and tunnels. We had such a busy afternoon, her nap only occured in the car...needless to say, she needed a nap, so after the party she went down for a very LATE nap. We typically would have kept her up and put her down early, but we knew we were going out to dinner for Shaun's birthday, then cake, so we put her down for a nap. It took us a little while to get her past her crankiness, but then we were able to leave for dinner. Right when we got home we sang "Happy Birthday" and Zoe helped blow out the candles. It was a late night for Zoe, but well worth it!

Our Very Own Picasso

Grandma and Grandpa got Zoe an easel for Christmas and with all the hussle and bussle of the holidays we didn't get around to putting it together until about a week ago. It is pretty neat because it can turn into a desk too. We will get her a little stool to go with it, so she can do her "homework" at her desk. Zoe absolutely loves painting, she is quite the Picasso! She even asks me, "Mommy, what should I paint?" I always suggest animals, but am always open to see what she comes up with on her own. It is so nice that we have all of this stuff in place before Kylee arrives, so we have enough to hopefully keep Zoe entertained and continually learning.

Dancing into the New Year

Cheers!

Happy New Year!!! On New Year's Eve, Zoe danced the night away...just like last year. She finally knocked out close to 10! She had so much fun dancing to the Chicken Dance and Hokey Pokey. She twirls around like a little ballerina.

It is going to be such a busy year for us. Kylee will be arriving early in April, along with Zoe's 3rd birthday, and of course all the other events that make life busy. I am definitely showing way more than I did with Zoe and apparently that is the trend for second pregnancies. I am just about ready for maternity clothes full time and I think I made it up until the last month with Zoe before having to wear maternity full time. Bummer!

The next step for the baby is to get her room ready. That takes quite a few steps because we have a couple of household projects that need to be worked on first, prior to painting her room. It will be gray and a focus wall will have pink, small black, white, and gray horizontal stripes. I was able to pick out some bedding for her and we decided to hand down all of Zoe's furniture to her. Zoe got a new dresser and nightstand, so she could give the other furniture to Kylee. She happily did so after learning she would get new furniture.

All of our new adventures will keep us super busy I am sure! It is an exciting time to look forward to, and we hope that all of our family and friends have just a wonderful of a year as we plan to have. Happy New Year!!!

Playtime with My Cousins

Auntie Heather brought the kiddos over to play on Friday. Zoe wanted them to see her new swing set. The kids loved it and had a good time playing outside. Then we went inside and we showed Zach, Zoe's big girl bed. That was too cute! They all wanted to get in her bed and they started rolling around together. That is another reason it is fun to be off for vacation, so we can hang with the cousins more.

A Trip to The Zoo

Checkin' out the Elephants

Sliding with Daddy

Woohoo!!!

On Thursday of last week, Shaun and I took Zoe to the Santa Barbara Zoo. She really likes it there and is now able to spot the animals even if they are not right in front of her. We didn't ride the train this time, but we saw most of the animals up close and most of them were awake and active. That makes for a good day at the zoo. Also, the fake grass hill makes it fun too. Zoe got the hang of it after quite a few trips down and she started putting her hands up toward the end. It is nice to be on vacation and spend a lot of time with Zoe. Unfortunately, school starts again on Tuesday.
