Zoe's Cousin, Zach, Turned One!

Zach turned one! Zoe went to her first birthday party on Saturday. She loved the ribbons on Zach's presents and was able to wear a party dress. It was such a great party and Zoe was able to see the location of her mommy and daddy's wedding.

It Has Been a While...

Wow! How time flies! This time of the year is always so busy and with Zoe it makes things feel even busier. We love every minute of it. Zoe sits up for really long stretches now, LOVES her jumper, and still is so intrigued by books. She has been drooling A LOT and we think that there's a tooth breaking through. It is amazing how much she is learning. A couple of nights ago I checked on Zoe as we were going to bed and she was sound asleep, but kicking her legs up and down vigorously. It was sooooo cute that we had to leave the room and laugh out loud. The next night I stopped in her room to check on her and she had turned over from her back to her stomach and had done a 180 degree turn. What a little wiggle worm!

Zoe is Sitting!!!

Holy cow!!! Zoe is sitting by herself! I had her on the ottoman that goes with her glider and she sat there for 3-4 minutes on her own. That was on Saturday...then on Sunday we stopped by Grandma and Grandpa's house and she sat on her own for about 5-7 minutes. This morning I wanted to capture it with a picture to post and it seems like she sat on the couch forever! She even pushed some buttons on the computer. She is going to be a computer wiz!

Zoe's Baptism

Zoe is almost 5 months old!!! On Saturday, August 30th, Zoe was baptized at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks. Our good friends Dave and Kim Bayles are Zoe's Godparents. She did so well while being baptized! We had a big barbeque to celebrate our blessed little baby girl. Dave and Kim's kids, Jackson and Addison, were so good with Zoe and Zoe was definitely intrigued by them.

Zoe is growing like crazy and getting more and more personality all the time. She is going to a sitter now and we couldn't be any happier with her situation. All the kiddos that Zoe gets entertained by are so great and she loves observing EVERYTHING! It is hard leaving her everyday, but we leave her in good hands.

Zoe is ALMOST sitting on her own already and loves to play in her jumper. She is sleeping up to 9 hours at night and has been sooooo cooperative in the morning as Shaun and I get ready. We continue to wash bibs like crazy because she is slobbering so much. TEETHING!!! Oh what fun it is :)

Zoe Got Shots!

Well this week has continued to be a very busy one. We started dropping Zoe off at the babysitter's on Monday. It wasn't as bad as we thought. She went for about four hours Monday and Tuesday and Friday she went for six. Zoe seems happy with the arrangement and we are super comfortable with it, so that is a big relief!

As Zoe was playing and having fun with the kiddos at the Macias home, we were working hard to unpack, organize, and set up our classrooms. Since Shaun and I changed grade levels it has been a tough start. We had no idea where to start, but now that it's Saturday (three days before students) it is all starting to come together. Phew!!!

The BIG news this week is that Zoe got her 4 month shots. Ouch!!! She actually screamed less this time, but has a little welt in the leg that they stabbed twice. Poor thing! At her month check-up she weighed 12 lbs., 14oz., and was 25 in. tall. For her age she is in the 27% for weight and 71% for height. She has a chance to be taller than her mommy. Thank goodness!!! The doctor said she has a few teeth that are trying to surface. Yikes! I didn't get my teeth until I was 12 months...must get that from her daddy.

Busy Week for Mommy and Daddy...

This has been a super busy week for Shaun and I...last Friday I found out that I got my job back. Woohoo! I will be teaching a 2-3 combo at the same school as last year. THEN Shaun got a call on Monday afternoon and he got his job back! He will be teaching 2nd at a different school this year, but is looking forward to getting to know a new staff. We will still carpool and Zoe will definitely be going to a babysitter now :(...It's been a great, but busy week. Fortunately for me, Shaun doesn't get the keys to his room until Monday, so I was able to use him in my class.

Zoe is officially FOUR months old! We cannot believe how fast time is flying by. She turned 4 months old on Tuesday and she is getting so big. She is fully formula fed now and will go to the doctor next week for her 4 month check-up and more shots :(.

We took Zoe to the fair again this week. My mom was watching Zoe's cousin, Zach, so he was able to hang out with us at the fair too. There is so much to keep them entertained with. Zach loved the tap dancers enough to bob his head to the music they made. It was super cute!

The rest of the week Zoe has been a trooper because we have dropped her off with Grandma, so we could work on some house projects and in my classroom. Also, we have brought her with us EVERYWHERE, so her nap schedule has been funky, but she sure is sleeping well at night. I guess it pays off to keep her busy during the day :).

I will post more pictures later, hopefully soon, but I cannot make any promises with how busy life will be with school starting soon!

What a Week!

Zoe has been a very busy baby girl the past week!

Zoe looked too cute in her Nike beanie and onesie, so I decided to put on her first pair of Nike shoes. She loves them! Then Shaun put her up on his shoulders and she has discovered Daddy's hair!
We met up with my friend from high school, Amanda, for lunch on Saturday because we both live back in NP. She and I grew up together, basically living on the same street. It was really nice to catch up with her and her husband, Joe. They are expecting their first little one in September...baby Jake. AND Zoe got her first princess crown from them! Thanks to Amanda's mom, who makes them.

On Sunday we took a last minute mini vacation to Big Bear. Zoe went on her first boat ride and went to the Farmers' Market. She was such a trooper, even after getting car sick on the way up the mountain :( ...poor thing!
We got home from Big Bear on Wednesday morning and before we had the vacation planned, we were going to go see our friend's kiddos race at the Ventura County Fair. The boys race mini dwarf cars and it has to be the cutest thing ever! There was enough time to relax a little bit, so we decided to still go to the fair and see the races. Tommy and Nick raced very well, but unfortunately other drivers crashed into them, leaving them unable to finish in the top three. Shaun had Tommy in his fourth grade class two years ago and ever since, we've gotten to know his whole family. So there were some more firsts for Zoe...she went to her first fair and her first car race.
